History

Originally farmland, in 1922 a group of businessmen purchased the land for the purpose of building a golf course. The fields and wooded property consisted of a farm house which was used as the Pro Shop and bag storage in those days and a barn, which is today’s Club House.

The first Charter, Shamokin Valley Country Club, was granted in 1923. The course began as a nine hole layout with two sets of tee boxes for each hole so it played to eighteen holes. An additional nine holes were constructed and opened in 1970.

Indian Hills Golf and Tennis Country Club wishes to provide a friendly family atmosphere for our Members and their Guests. We hope you have an enjoyable time participating in the activities and functions offered at the club.

Directions

From Route 61 in Paxinos, between the towns of Shamokin and Sunbury, turn (West) onto Hollow Road which is near Ghezzi's Restaurant. Follow Hollow Road to the stop sign. You will see the 11th green to your left. Turn left onto Reading Road. The clubhouse and parking lot are located on the left hand side of the road. 1167 Old Reading Road.
